James is the very well-known landlord of the Queen Victoria public house and also proprietor of the riverside eatery the Smokehouse.
Since he arrived in Maldon, James has certainly made a difference, and apart from his business interests has developed a passion for the Maldon District and its community. James is a Councillor on Maldon District Council where he serves on several committees and is Chair of Maldon High Street Focus Group. He also chairs Maldon District Tourism Board where he has developed a working insight of how Maldon can promote itself to the wider Essex community and beyond.

James also serves as a Councillor on Maldon Town Council and is at present Deputy Mayor.

James will tell the fascinating story of how he came to live in Maldon and his reasons for developing such a passion for the town, the district and it vibrant communities.

Monthly talks

Our monthly talks are now held in the United Reformed Church, Market Hill, Maldon. 

As well as listening to speakers, you can find out local news on our notice boards and meet fellow members.

Talks start at 7.00pm, with doors open at 6.30pm.
